I agree with most of what you said. And Michigan is fantastic May-Early October. But the nicer FHU private campgrounds are in that range you listed in Michigan. We are staying at Duck Creek in August as it's right across from Michigan's Adventure amusement park. We are also staying at Indigo Bluffs in July with location being a primary motivator. We also stay at Michigan State Parks with 30A Electric for about $30/night. We appreciate the benefits of both styles of "camping".
