What's the price "tipping point" for you?

Private parks, do nothing for me. I do not like them, small sites, not much to do I like. As in hiking biking. I very much dislike golf carts buzzing around, and on and on. So my attached value to that kind of camping is very low. (like $15)

However for others they are the greatest thing sense sliced bread. And they see great value in what they offer

Just different strokes for different folks.

However I will say, when camping with the GD. Finding a place with a pool and playground, significantly raises my attached value, and in that case I am willing to pay much more,( like $60 plus) and not feel abused.

That's what it's all about, be it a CG, TV or car, what value do we as consumers attach to that item or service. It varies which each individual. And why we have such varation in goods and services offered. To each his own

I've been through one place where RV rates ($50) were far more than motel rates ($30). There, I stayed at a no-hookups campground for $30, which was far nicer than either. (The RV park was just a parking lot, no trees, showers or toilets.)

If an Rv park is more than $35, I look at motel prices and compare. I still cook my own food at a motel, so there is no extra cost. But if the RV park is significantly less than area motels, I suck it up and pay for it, or go elsewhere.

Forest service and other no-amenity campgrounds, I look askance if over $15. National parks, OTOH, I think are very undervalued. I assume this is due to a desire to be affordable for everyone, and i applaud that.

Not everyone who stays at an RV park is picking it as "a convenient location". People have many different reasons for why they stay at a place no matter where it is located. What you see as a basic stopping point while you go off sightseeing, another person sees as a great halfway point for their family to get together, and another person sees as a place to live while they work a temp job, and so on. Each one is looking for different things in that park based on their own personal wants and needs. What you think is useless, someone else thinks is a necessity.

What GMandJM wants in place is completely different than what I want in a place. That's why where are so many places with so many varying degrees of amenities - WE the consumers get to pick a place that meets our needs.

I charge as much as I can. The more I offer, the more I can get. If wifi and cable are unimportant, why are there so many threads complaining when it either is unavailable or doesn't work. I do not need to justify anything, but this is a discussion where some people want to hear facts they hadn't considered and get the views and positions of others.
The again, some people just want to complain. For example, gas is much cheaper than a year ago, but it is still a go to pricing gripe for some. As they say, some people would complain if they were hung with a new rope.

Westernrvparkowner is doing his best to justify high prices. Not buying it wrvpo. Wifi is TARFU in cgs. Cable too. Your other posts on this forum show that you think it's okay to charge high rates and to be rude to customers. If you're still in business you won't be for long with that attitude.

If you're staying there as a convenient location you're not going to be in the cg much because you're there for the off-cg destinations. The campground serves as a rack and stow in those cases. Not a resort.

When paying high fuel prices and trying to get some vacay without busting the bank, lower prices win every time and from what I've been reading on this forum, most RVers feel that way. Not nearly as many go for glamping.

I'm on vacation, going to where I want to go. The destination, not the price, is what the driving factor is for me.

As for amenities I don't want need, it's easier to say that what REALLY want is:

1) A clean, level parking spot big enough for a 42' tag plus our tow'd vehicle, WSE preferred, cable a plus, wi-fi rarely works well, so I bring me own.

2) Enough space between sites so that I don't have to see, hear or smell what the next-door neighbor is doing when he's inside his camper.

3) A bit of peace and quiet (i.e. enforcement of no drunken rowdies partying all night and a management willing to do something about constantly barking dogs).

4) Some level of safety, even if it's just the presence of cg personnel being visible in the park.

5) A clean shower house with lockable doors in the shower. (I don't really care so much about this anymore but G-half still uses the shower houses when we want to clean up at the same time).

6) Triple extra bonus points if there are NO FIRE RINGS.

All that within a reasonable distance (25miles) to a museum, bike trail and/or place I can paddle, and I'm a happy camper.

Anything more than that (mini-golf, bouncy pillows, restaurant, train rides, swimming pools) - are of no value to me, although I understand why they are necessary for others.

I camp and stay at national forest campgrounds - the amenities I don't want to pay for?

Manicured lawns
Swimming pools/hot tubs
Shower rooms
Club houses
General stores
Dog runs
Hookups (of any kind)

I'm perfectly happy with a fairly level dirt/gravel/asphalt pad, picnic table, fire ring, potable water spigot within 20 campsites from mine, vault/flush toilet within 20 campsites from mine, trees, dirt, bugs, critters, stars, natural water (river, creek, lake). If I can get that, then I'm willing to pay an additional $5 per night for a second vehicle and/or $1-$2 per day per dog.
