Winston-Salem, North Carolina campgrounds?

What is the best and closest commercial campground to Winston-Salem, NC.? I am not interested in a park campground, just commercial campgrounds with full hookups and facilities. Thanks!
  • Tanglewood talks about reserving level sites and non-level sites, so is it being said here that the so called "level sites" are still not level? This is an issue for my Class B as the only way that I can level is with the "lego" blocks and I would not want to go beyond two block heights to get level.
  • I thought I remembered tangle woods sites having a pretty good slope when we drove through.
  • Sites at Tanglewood are sloped mostly from front to rear. Most are level side to side but some levelling might need to be done on some sites. All sites are paved. You can get in at night. Tanglewood is west of Winston Salem town area. Right off of I-40 just past the town of Clemmons heading west. I have always heard of sites at Dixie Classic grounds, but have never stayed there.

In Winston-Salem you can use the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds.....they have full hook up sites and are open to the public to drive in to use...and you reserve the sites so it is yours for as long as you have paid for....http://www.dcfair.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Campgrounds-2013.pdf
We have been to Tanglewood...really nice campground except over half of the sites are as unlevel as you can get...Chuck
  • You may need to use other things like google. Then use rv park reviews as a supplement. If you find an rv parks website, look for their address and the city where they are located and then use that city as reference in rv park reviews. Also on a side note, on rv park reviews, when you go to a city, look over on the top right. There is a box for nearby cities. They even give a distance and general direction away from where you are looking. So, yes you can see what's nearby on rv parks review.
  • The problem with RVparkreviews is if the campground is not in that city or town, there is no way to find what is nearby. I checked there before I came here. I will take a look at Tanglewood. The problem for us with park campgrounds is that we set off in our Class B RV to see the area in the morning from the campground and don't come back until late at night. We need a site that is reserved for us that no one coming in during the day can just take. It looks like this should not be a problem at Tanglewood.
  • re: Tanglewood County Park, Clemmons, NC. We just checked the showers and they are "rustic" ... DH gave the 2 showers a "6" said they are "ok" and clean. Everything else here is great.
I looked on Woodalls and rvpark reviews and nothing else in the area that got as good reviews.
  • We're at Tanglewood County park right now. Full hookups, cable, wi-fi. Park has golf course, pool, river for canoeing, paved bike and hiking trail, horseback riding and much more. Haven't checked out the showers or bathrooms but will do so shortly. Beautiful trees. $31 per night.
