Winter on Mississippi gulf coast

Long time reader first time to post. Spent winters in Florida, Arizona, and Texas. Last year ended up in Louisiana. I found the golf courses to be nice and the prices to be reasonable. It was cold but I can still play golf when dressed appropriately. It was the coldest winter in 15 years, (They said the same thing in FL, AZ, and TX.) This year I was planning on spending some time on the Mississippi gulf coast. Are there any recommendations on places to stay, golf courses to play, and attractions I must see?

  • Or you could spend the winter a bit further east on the Alabama gulf coast near Gulf Shores. Many campgrounds around here and lots to see and do. Escapees has a nice park (Rainbow Plantation) on County Rd 28 west of AL 59. It's nicely located between Foley & Fairhope and between Mobile & Pensacola as well. I'm not a golfer but I hear that the Robert Trent Jones golf trail is nice with one course near Mobile - - and there are other courses around Mobile and Baldwin counties as well.

Here's a website to start your search:

All things are relative. Floridians and seasoned snowbirds say it's cold any time the temperatures go into the 70's. If they dip into the 60's, then it's "really cold."
  • Hollywood Casino in Bay St Louis has a nice RV Park and golf course (not a golfer so don't know how good the course is).
