Last week we stayed at the Bakersfield Palms RV Park in Bakersfield,CA. We thought we had asked all the right questions when making this reservation, but obviously not. There is a railroad track on one side of this park and a busy highway on another side. Restrooms are locked from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m., even though we had a pass code to the door. The park is divided into short term and long term by a fence. The long term side is populated by broken down RVs. We found a man lying on the floor in the men's restroom, not sick. Not given a code to the internet connection at checkout and office closed when we went for it. Not a safe or restful stop. Office staff just said "sorry about that" to our complaints.

Never really had an real bad experience at an RV park. We did stay at a broken down KOA near UVA and the lady/ co-owner was very strange and in everyone's business. She had so many rules for the jumping pillow my kids said no thanks.Usually my worst experience is check out time, been pretty lucky with where we stay.

Boil water advisory and oil fired hot water heater in the men's room leaking exhaust inside. That's the worst we saw. Also the most dangerous.Worst review I have written on rvparkreviews.

Google is your friend. In this case it would have been your best friend. It shows railways, airports, the neighbourhood (residential, industrial farm country, etc.). Google Earth and Street View also give you a pretty good idea of what the park and surrounding area is like.

I don't know how you could have expected anything else based on what every map and satellite picture shows you. Bruce

I always stay at Orange Grove RV Park.. easy on/off Hwy 58 in Bakersfield, ca.

Nice park.. free muffins/donuts in a.m. also you can pick Oranges.. so good.
Nice pool etc. Pull-thrus so you don't have to disco tow car. very level.

Napa Valley Expo end of a long day no other parks anywhere close had reservations rudest and stinkest camp host we have ever had decided to make up a rule that our rv was to old even though the Park has no such rule. Ended up being "allowed to stay"

JADEGIRL, we have family in Bako and travel there 2 or 3 times a year.
We have stayed right off the 99 hiway a few times at River Run RV Park. It is very clean with manicured lawns between the spaces, but our favorite is Orange Grove RV Park just one off ramp east of where you stayed. Easy in, easy out, all pull-thrus and a great staff. Not sure about the restrooms but the laundry is spotless.

I just step around them. As long as they don't bother me I don't bother them. You can rummage through their pockets for money if they are passed out.

Ok kidding aside as some mentioned using Google Earth or a mapping application to see what surrounds the campground and also using rvparkreviews. I also post on Tripadvisor.com as well. It's like being there before you are really there. I do that before I go on a trip to any unfamiliar place, it'll save you a lot of grief.
