Don't push the pedal down for so long. Also is your pedal sticking? It should return to it's original setting in a second or two. Mine sticks on occasion and I need to lube the ball valve. Under normal operation the pedal comes back up as fast as my foot does. We dry camp for 4-5 days at a time. We even dump dirty dish water down the toilet to save room in the grey tank. The black tank never comes close to getting full.
