Ceiling support

I have a 2000 aero cub TT. Has ceiling water damage. My question is what holds up the styrofoam isulation? Removed the plastic paneling and under it is the styrofoam and above that is the rubber membrane on the roof. Guess I don’t know what I don’t know, lol. Ceiling was sagging but there is nothing to attach it back to. I’m at a loss.
maybe I should start with the roof and lay plywood all the way across, then the ceiling?

  • I don’t know if I’m understanding what you are saying - there are no rafters in the roof at all? That would be pretty unusual.
Usually the foam boards are held in place with insulation straps stapled to the rafters on each side.
It’s possible your roof was constructed of “foam core sandwich panels” (you can google them) and then the rubber roof was glued in one piece to the top of those panels.
If that’s the case, you would have to replace the damaged panels by duplicating the original panels, and glue a whole new one piece rubber membrane on top. This is going to be a big job.

Yeah, haven’t found a rafter or truss. Haven’t seen a strap yet either. The styrofoam has a wood skin on both sides.  Thinking I will build curved rafters all the way and screw plywood on top. Only way I know to fix it
