Clear dome over tub too hot, need fix?

I had a new dome installed over the tub/shower in my 5th wheel.
Not thinking quit clearly when I picked it up from the service dept.
Later was looking over things they fixed and found they had installed a clear dome instead of one with a smoke finish. My question is!!! Is there a way to cover this dome, but still let the light in. The clear dome is very making things very hot inside the camper and I am afraid the sun coming thru will fade the tub/shower.
It has been 3 months since it was worked on and they will not change it out.
Need help, thanks

  • Remove inner cover and just place a piece of window tint over it and re install
  • I use Protect-All on the fiberglass walls in the shower (NOT THE FLOOR) to protect it from UV damage. and I'd recommend that even if there was very little sunlight coming in. It's certainly easier to keep clean and I don't have to worry about cracking or a dull finish. (and put some on both sides of the skylight.)

Well, you could always send some of that "heat" up this way. Went down in the 20's last night... :B
  • I took a piece of aluminum foil insulation. Cut it to the shape of the sky light. Attached it with some heavy duty velcro with the adhesive backing and pressed it into place. I put three folds in the foil so that it stores easily when not in use. I can be used when showering but it is pretty dark in there. Just put it up and take it down as needed.
  • Carefree makes a slider cover (inside) for RV skylights
  • Look for glass frost spray. Find a brand that is good for plastic like Krylon.
Frosts the glass but still allows light in.
  • I painted mine with white paint made for plastic. It worked great and has been there about 5 years.
  • Maybe try some of the paint made for plastic a very light spray of a light color?
