Complete remodel of my Class C 1983 Honey
I am a new motorhome owner! I decided to buy a class C (anything that was drivable I was ok with while looking) and for my birthday I purchased my very first RV. I absolutely love it. The problem? The guy lied like crazy!
I had a feeling there was a "fake" ceiling in it; and after gettin it home I discovered the cab over bed was rotted out. Not a big deal, I can fix that!
What I am looking to find is answers. I've decided that I would rather just redo all of it; but I can't seem to find any info on the Honey brand. I understand they are out of business. I do have all the repair receipts from the previous owners. What I'm trying to find is if there is a way to rebuild the frame from the inside. I already know I need a new roof. I called a local place and they said just to replace the rubber it's $100 per foot and to rebuild the frame is $2500. There is no way in hell I'm paying someone over 5 grand to do my roof when I can easily find friends and do it on my own a lot cheaper.
I just know that if the roof is as bad as I've seen near the cab over; and some of the frame boards are rotted, that I need to replace much of the frame throughout the whole RV. I just need to know if there is any type of metal framing around like the edges. I'm excited to redo my whole RV. I have already had people tell me I wasted my money, and that I'm gonna spend more to redo this one and I should just cut my losses and sell it. Well I am a single mother, I will never have good enough credit to buy a new one. This one is gonna be fixed so that it will last me for the rest of my life and hopefully half of my daughters. Any ideas or help with replacing the framing from the inside would be wonderful! I've been reading through a lot of these posts and have come across some wonderful info for when I get to certain projects.
Thanks!
Jenn
