First Step

We just had our RV at MORryde and had a 3" riser added between the IS system and the bottom of the frame. So the problem we how have is about a one foot drop from the lowest step to the ground. NOT SAFE!!!

What seems to be the best portable single step out there?

Thanks!

You could also install a four step replacement set which is longer, and the steps even! :B

  • Buy a step like they use in step aerobics. Bigger and lighter and you can add sections under the step to make it taller if you need to.
  • Cummins, it hasn't been a problem we've noticed. That is except for our Shelties, when then come out of the trailer neither one will step on it. One will going in. It's good and sturdy, folds and tucks in the basement on that side.
  • What I did to solve this problem on the sites where it was a problem.

I made a platform from 1x4 lumber and a piece of 1/2" plywood it is about 2 1/2 feet wide and three foot long I covered the top with astroturf. I turn it upside down in back of truck and then store other things inside while towing.

It does not weigh that much and has been used many times. For a various assortment of other things also when not needed as another step.
  • The one with adjustable legs look nice. Some I have seen like pictured above are not as wide as our steps and I would think that could be a problem?
  • I had the step shown which I really liked but replaced it with their other one that each leg is adjustable. Being able to adjust each let is really handy when a sight isn't the most level. Nothing was wrong with the other one so we have left it at my Dads home and use it so he can get in out Yukon with a solid base. Both are excellent steps but I really like the one best that has the adjustable legs.
  • We have used the portable folding step shown in the previous post for many years. Haven't fell off it but once. There is another one just like it that has adjustable legs.
  • one day Im going to invent an "add-a-step" that will attach to your folding steps and give you one more that folds out.

    hrmm...
