Leaking kitchen faucet

2014 rockwood 2604ws, found a trickle of water coming out from under the on handle. The faucet is a pull out sprayer model and the leak is very small when it is shut off. I don't know about fixing it but if I replace it can I use a standard faucet with same 3 holes and same size fittings?

  • Taps only come in two different hole spacing and your will be one of them. Our coach is on its forth galley tap. The original needed repair and no parts were available (35yo at the time). I bought a replacement and then found out that it would vibrate open and DW didn't like it at all. We bought one she thought we would like only to find out later that we couldn't fill a corn/lobster pot under it. The next we could, but it didn't have a rinser included as DW felt it would be a water waster. This current does and fits all the other things as well.
    Choose wisely.

  • My Moen faucet with pull-out sprayer started to leak. I contacted them and they sent me a new one free, including the shipping. I had to send them a photo to identify which model. They were amazing.

Which make and model is yours?
  • RV faucets are typically just really cheap residential faucets. You certainly can replace it with any one of a suitable size and mounting from wherever, and likely get a better faucet in the process.

If the existing faucet is one with washers (vs. a ceramic quarter-turn or single handle valve), it might be possible to stop the leak just by snugging down on the valve packing nut, assuming it has one underneath the handle.
  • I just bought our new pull out fauset from Lowes. A lot higher quality than original. It is a little cramped under the sink. I am going to replace bathroom fauset next. A lot easier replacing washers in home type fausets. My kitchen fauset is a one hole fauset but they furnish a plate in the box to cover the other holes. I opened the box before puchase to make sure it would fit.
  • Depending on the brand, you may be able to get a repair kit that usually contains a tool to disassemble, and all the washers and o-rings needed. Again, depending on the type faucet, you may just need the o-rings to seal around the handle and spout. HD, Lowes, Maynards, just about any of them carry the repair kits. Lots cheaper and much eaiser than replacing the whole thing. And, its DIY.
  • We've had two different trailers with leaky kitchen faucets. Home Depot had just the thing to replace both, and you get a better faucet! We chose not to have the pull out type because if we goofed up and left water in it during freezing temps, the thing might rupture.
The hardest thing is changing them out--it's a little cramped for a muscular guy to crawl under the sink.
