Lippert (Venture) Electric Slide Actuator failure
I've been having issues of recent with one of my slides. I have 2 that oppose each other in the rear. The one slide has an actuator and a link shaft to another gear set as it houses the refer, pantry and dinnette. The other has just the single actuator which only has the sofa bed.
Every so often I had to manually help the slide to move and then it would extend with no issues. Several weeks back it would not open, and I sort of forces the manual crank, however I just sheared the pin that connects the hand crank piece to the motor shaft, no bit deal, or so I thought. After replacing this, I still was unable to open the slide, which I wanted to do to pack for an up coming trip. I removed the under belly, which is a pita due to the size of the sheet, and found my actuator motor with one of the pins sheared off, similar to this thread I found. The brackets are bent, more so than I think one extra hard crank should do.
I still have 1 year left on the Lippert warranty, but my dealer is 40 miles each way and at 7 - 9 towing and 10 - 11 not, I decided to fix myself. I don't have a welder, but know a real good one who does all my auto work. He is replacing the 2 "nubs" welded to the actuator with grade 8 bolts and cutting them so I can put lock nuts on them, as well putting an extra bead on the brackets after he straightens them out.
I'll post pictures once I get the components back as well as after I remount the actuator.
