Metal Shades in the bunkhouse- options to replace?

We have a Passport 2650 TT. My kids sleep in the bunkhouse and all night long you can hear them move around when their knees hit the metal blinds covering the bunkhouse windows. The metal blinds make that bending metal noise all night long. It drives us crazy and they don't like it either. I am thinking about removing the blinds and doing one of the following:

1. Get those windows tinted darker (limo tint) so no one can see in from the outside.
2. Putting the opaque frosted privacy film on the inside
3. Replacing the metal blinds with cellular shades. I am worried these might get damaged as they move around at night.

Anyone have experience with different window covering options in the bunkhouse? Our biggest concern is obviously anyone being able to see in while they are sleeping.
  • I would make a fold up shade/blind. Go to fabric store and get an already quilted fabric (or make using a fabric you like and perhaps a blanket if you want for insulation). Tack it to top of narrow board.. approx 1 1/2 inches wide. and use angle bracket to attach to wall. check pinterest or you tube for detailed instructions. They will also show you how to make fabric to hold it folded up. I have them in my kitchen at home on my glass doors, easy to fold up when using the door, but close for visibility and light control when needed.
  • We have the same issue when we have grandkids with us. I too am searching for a good solution. Don't want someone looking in and would like to keep it dark as long as possible in the mornings so they won't wake up at first light. We have a TT with emergency window in the bunk room at the campers back.
  • Tint won't block the view inside the RV when you have lights on.

How 'bout some old fashion curtains.
  • My 2 year old daughter LOVES playing with the blinds in her bunk bed and looking outside instead of sleeping. We have her where the emergency exit window is. The windows already have 20% tint from the factory. I just cut a piece of Reflectix to perfectly fit in the window and installed it between the full screen and the window itself. It is now pitch black in her bunk and she cannot look outside and be distracted during bed time or nap time.
  • We had those kind in our old Outback trailer, whoever had the idea of putting them in should have been thumped upside the head a few times. I didn't want any strings so we opted to just put an plain old roller shade under the valance. Problem with tint is depending on the light others can see into the window still.
