I have the brass fitting one and it works fine. I've had it a year now with no issues, but it is a wash TT hose from a Y-adapter and seldom used. I would never use it under constant pressure or drink from it.
The biggest problem I have had is it traps dirt when it recoils. As it shrinks the hose-folds grab dirt and holds it. This makes for a messy hose to store. I have a separate bag I put it in because of the dirt.
