Pocket Hose

So.. a few years ago I bought two 'pocket hoses' (the nifty 50' expanding hoses that take up no room to store) and used them for constant water supply to the RV.

After two days one of them popped. Lesson: these are not made to be constantly under water pressure.

Now I see the new version the 'Brass pocket hose.'

It claims its 3x stronger.

Anyone have any experiance with them being used as a constant water connection to the RV's?

Thanks!
  • I have a flat hose as my backup. It's 50' long and has it's own reel. Rolls up roughly 12x12. Water flow isn't great but it will do in a pinch. Also use it to wash camper when running off a tee. Works great for that.
  • I have the brass fitting one and it works fine. I've had it a year now with no issues, but it is a wash TT hose from a Y-adapter and seldom used. I would never use it under constant pressure or drink from it.

The biggest problem I have had is it traps dirt when it recoils. As it shrinks the hose-folds grab dirt and holds it. This makes for a messy hose to store. I have a separate bag I put it in because of the dirt.
  • Bought one with the brass fitting 4 weeks ago.
Returned it yesterday for a refund. Hole in side.
Used it nightly to water plants.

It was one of several that were returned that week per
    the store employee.

As the Raven said "Never more".
  • The great thing about a pocket hose is they take up very little space in the garbage can...
  • The green ones are junk. We have the Ultra Pocket Hose and it's been great. It's the black one with solid brass connectors with a valve on one end.

Mine and all that were returned, that I mentioned, were the black ones with the solid brass fitting.

Well, I guess time will tell.
  • Bought one in the "AS SEEN ON TV" section at Walgreen. Turned on the built in valve and it came off in my hand. Not a good sign.

    P. S.
Not intending to blame Walgreen. They refunded my money.
