Quick disconnects?

Has anyone added quick disconnects to thier water inlet and hose? I would like to have one on my coach, but need to find a way to cover the hole on the disconnect that would stay on the rig

I would really only use it when on our cross country trips when we just park overnight and need water and electric hookups. It sure would be easier than screwing the hose onto the coach's fitting everytime

  • I have quick disconnects on the water connection. From the rig out there are: manual shut-off valve; pressure gauge; quick disconnect.

I also removed the cheap plastic check valve in the inlet.
  • X2 on using them on everything. Hose, inlet water connector, external filter, short extension with Y-adapter. Short extension goes on inlet connector with Y-valves closed for travel and/or storage. Gets flushed when connected to water supply, before adding hose or filter. Buy good quality brass ones. Cheap will break or leak. Change o_rings yearly.
  • I purchased rubber chair leg caps to go over the quick disconnect. Mine are 5/8 inch diameter. I swing the small hatch cover out of the way so the chair cap sticks through it.
Take connector to store to insure you get the correct size. Buy more then one!

  • I use quick disconnects on everything.Put the male end on then the female with a cap on it for traveling then pop it off and pop on the hose with the female connect. When I am done the female one goes back on with the cover.I use the Gilmore ones, cheapest I have found is at Lowes.

Here is an example that I use on the tank wash.

  • As far as blocking it off get a spare hose and screw a plug into it.
  • I had them on all of my connections for a trip or two. May work for some but I eventually removed them. Too many leaks.
  • I thought about it but the quick connect would keep the hatch door from closing.
