Propane quick disconnect....

For any others considering this purchase...

Wanted to be able to use my "under 5ver rig" propane quick
disconnect for the portable BBQ grill. Did only minimal
research (the cheesyier ones on line seemed to run in
$30.00 range plus inflated shipping). Bit the bullet and
ran over to the local BBQ Galore outlet... (you know, the
place with 10K grills on the showroom floor)... a 12 ft.
quick disconnect (remember, there are 2 sizes avail. might
want take a selfie of your connection to get the correct size
on the first try). Well any way... $50.00 ! Sheesh. Seems
to be of better quality then some of the on-line ones but
still expensive for a hose. Cost of doing business. If I get
10 years out of it, I guess $5 a year isn't bad.

Did not want to haul another propane tank around for grilling
as I have two of the enclosed big boys... my choice. The short
hoses with sm. tank were relatively inexpensive. Time will tell
if I chose poorly.

    Amazon sells the Camco brand for about the same price. Ever buy a grill from BBQ Galore? Mine had a bad valve after couple of months. No replacement parts. Unless that has changed.

    No...can't afford to be a shopper at BBQ Galore... too rich
    for my pocketbook. I did check out those "Green Eggs" wow !
    the big version would def. push most here over your TV GCWR ...
    must be made of lead ! Ha!.

    Truth be told... after my purchase and dry run... I'll just
    run the hose up thru the basement of the existing twin propane
    tank compartment and connect there... my 5ver's quick disconnect
    is low (fore of the front wheel) and recessed... and I am inherently
    lazy ...that crawling around on the ground to connect is for
    those more energetic then I.... besides, looks like potential
    beverage spilling conditions !

    Bob,

    Thanks , those are nice, but only 48"... I'm a sloppy
    griller, so 12' from the rig prevents the Princess from
    yelling at me.

    I've never used the propane quick disconnects for my COLEMAN ROAD TRIP grille but have heard the propane pressure straight from the tanks is a problem with my grille without doing something... Maybe someone one here knows what you have to do to make that work...

    I don't think you can just hookup to the RV Trailer Propane tank for most of the standalone grills like Coleman and Webber... ???

    For me the 1lb propane canisters are perfect to use. I have to always have a couple of those canisters on hand for my back up PLAN B heat source so I usually have a six pack of those on hand...

    You need to remove the regulator on the grill. If you don't your pressure will be too low.

    Hmmmm.... news to me.

    I thought it would be plug-n-play.... did not even
    know my grill had a regulator ! Makes sense as there
    is a regulator on the RV propane tank. Guess I'm going to
    make a trial run . I'll let you know how this works
    out... (see ! nothing is intuitive in RV'ing ! ha!).
    My simpleton thinking... connect hose to RV tank...
    connect hose to grill...and grill. Ok, thanks.

    Guess I should just get un-lazy and use the quick disconnect
    provided under the rig !

    I bought a small Weber grill last October. I have the quick connect on my 5er. Used it for the other BBQ that decided it didn't want to work anymore(bad regulator later found out). Anyway I didn't want to use the small green tanks so bought a few fittings that fit the Weber and voila it all works. I didn't have to take the regulator off the Weber and it works just fine. The feed line is direct from the pipe that feeds the 5er.

    If the gas grill has a regulator, you need to Tee into the propane tank BEFORE the tank regulator. If the gas grill does NOT have a regulator, not usually the case, you need to Tee into AFTER the tank regulator.

    The Camco kit includes 10' of hose + The valve mod without the regulator generic install. I think Camco sells the valve seperate. The T on my propane tank is after the regulator.
