Replacing Awning Fabric that has Alumiguard Cover - DIY

Our 16 year old awning is in need of being replaced and we have decided to take the route to do it our self. After watching about 20 you tube videos, this doesn't seem like it will be a difficult task...

It is a pain to roll up. I just assumed that it was due to the poor condition of the Viny, and assumed it would roll up better with new material.
