- Community AlumniThe only way I want a bunch of lights around my campsite is if those same lights would somehow eliminate all those **** pesky mosquitoes. I'm full timing at a lake side RV park and none of RV residents use any of their outside lights. If they do, it is to get into storage compartments and then they are quickly turned off. The only lights seen are campfires/firepits and the pesky boat ramp light.

Looks like the neighbor must be equally colorful with that green light flooding in from out of frame.
my favorite are the huge fifth wheels with blinding blue floodlights on the front cap. - goducks10Explorer

Maybe it is just me, but, I go camping to get away from all of the lights and to enjoy the dark nights. I try to park away from the big RV's and stay near the tents because they usually don't try to bring the city with them. It is your decision what you do, but remember that all of your lights do affect other people.
Trust me, it isn't just you.

I did exactly the same thing, except, instead of a SPDT switch, I used a SPST switch that shorts the pins of the flasher together. Electrically, that takes the flasher out of the circuit.
Different way to skin a cat I guess :W - my SPDT switch is centre off, in which case neither circuit is energized. :B - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII use the FLASHER so I can find my trailer after the community pot luck party

The only positive thing I ever thought this to be good for would be to FLASH to alert authorities coming to your trailer for an emergency...
I built a trailer lights dongle that would flash ALL the trailer lights when backing off the street on to our driveway.
Hard to imagine but apparently even a travel trailer isn't big enough to alert dummies racing down the street that they might have to slow down a bit and pause while I complete this process. :S
Great minds, and all that.
I did exactly the same thing, except, instead of a SPDT switch, I used a SPST switch that shorts the pins of the flasher together. Electrically, that takes the flasher out of the circuit. The weatherproof push on/off switch above the socket is what I use to toggle between flash/steady. If the switch is ON, the lights are on steady. If the switch is OFF, the lights flash.
If I want the lights OFF, I just unplug the cable.
(I also keep a cable in there long enough to reach from the battery to the tires to power my 12v air compressor.)
(The closest I could find to a flasher symbol was the ammeter symbol. Sorry about that.)
