A trick for drilling (although the above advice is probably better) is to figure what the thickness of the wall material is (probably 1/8") and then wrap lots of layers around your drill bit leaving just the depth of the wall, so that you won't punch through far enough to do damage to the components behind the wall board. Once a small hole is through you can use a wire to feel around in the hole to know if it's really safe to do much else there.
