Stepped-Up to a TrailerSaver Hitch

After our bad luck with the frame breakage a few weeks ago, which definitely was a vacation “downer”.....we went shopping for something to “dampen” the shock transmitted to our 5er.
With some research.....we decided on the Trailer Saver. Wow....are they pricey! But, luck was was with us, and we found a “lightly” used one at a very good price. With a little “earnest” money to hold it, we picked it up ( only a 300 mile detour) on our way back to Mesa, Az. to get our repaired 5er.
It is definitely a towing improvement! Though our frame breakage was likely a “fluke”, this hitch gives some additional “piece of mind”, and a little more ride comfort!

Counting the additional 3000 mile round trip to get our trailer (with some additional “vacationing” thrown in), we’ve burned 9000 miles worth of diesel since Easter. It’s been a busy and eventful summer so far!

    We have a goose-neck dump trailer, and use the Reese goose-neck plate on our existing bed rails. The Trailer Saver uses the same rails, so it should work pretty well for us. Though....removing the Trailer Saver is a “work-out”!

  • Thanks Renee! We have the TS-3. I’ll use the tractor ( bucket) to remove. I’ll be building a wagon ( angle iron and square tubing), to make it portable and storing easier.
    That “son of a gun” is built like a tank and is “heavy”! :B
  • Congratulations! We've had our TrailerSaver from the onset of purchasing our FW. We had the Hensley Arrow on our TT and when traded in on our FW, we traded in our Arrow for the TrailerSaver. We don't know any other difference, but can attest to the smooth ride. We have the BD3 and have taken it apart to remove from the bed, which is fairly easy and doable too. Great product and peace of mind. You know that you have to have it in the 9 o'clock position to hitch up and then at 8 o'clock indicating it's locked. When the Holland Binkley head locks you know it!
