I looked at those too, but settled on the one I linked to. It has to be installed at the "high point" so for me I was thinking in terms of maintenance. Using the hot water tank VB it would be easier to replace the breaker by simply unscrewing it rather then having to dismantle the assembly for replacement. As for how they work internally, it seems they mimic each other, so again, I'm anxious to hear how well yours works. :)

Which style of vacuum breaker are you using?

I've been looking at the VB used for hot water tanks. All I need is a Tee at the high point of the overflow, then screw the VB into the Tee.

Like this.

The VB seems pretty much fool proof, so I'm anxious to hear how well it works for you.

I bought the vacuum breaker and an adapter from menards last night. Will go to the temp storage lot tonight to install. (our road is under construction and can't get my 30 foot trailer into the drive during construction).

I will know for sure if it works this weekend as we are doing our last trip of the year at Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton, IL.

Will update all on how it turned out. Note: I too thought of a shut off valve as the easy solution, but wanted to avoid crawling under every time I fill the tank. Hopefully this vac break works as hoped.

I use a cork from Menards in the HDW dept

I'm also dealing with the same water loss out of the vent tubes and did a lot of research on it yesterday - seems the problem is in large part due to some RV's no longer having gravity feeds. The only suggestion I came across was maybe putting a shut-off valve on the end of the vent tubes. I am also dealing with a related problem in that I don't think the hose going from the tank to the pump is mounted in the top of the fresh water tank and doesn't reach the bottom. It is impossible to get to this hose without cutting some of the frame holding the tank in place, which I don't want to do - one suggestion for this was to tap into the freshwater drain hose. I am open to other ideas as to either problem.

We added a vacuum breaker (garden variety from Home Depot) to the vent line. Just make sure it lined up so air can go INTO the tank and water cannot flow out. Overflow when filling comes out the gravity fill port. On ours the loss of 1/3 of a tank was all from the vent tube, just followed the water down the side of MH after driving.
