We replaced carpet with laminate flooring

We've just finished replacing our living room carpet with Allure Trafficmaster laminate flooring. So far, we are pleased with the results Our blog has lots of photos and information about the project - you'll find it linked in my signature below.

The only negative I've read about the standard Allure in in regions with huge temperature swings, ie, freezing then heat. Possible to see some separation in these cases.

Since we're fulltime the RV never sits out in the cold without heat on so the issue may be different for us than for a weekender in the north. It that case it's likely a real concern.
  • Looks great! We have a 2007 LKTG,the floor plan is very similar so I was able to show DH what ours would look like with the Allure installed. Maybe one of these days.......
  • I think it looks great! Makes the room look brighter also it seems.

  • I replace the carpet in the whole FW with laminate wood 3 years ago and I like it so much.
  • I did my Stick and Brick with a floating/interlocking edge laminate floor and for only a couple of short edge separations, I love it. However, I did not want to break out the compound miter saw, table saw, and other wood working tools so I got the Allure with the adhesive edges. YES, I have some short edge separtions, especially in cold weather. But it was easy to cut with a utility knive and install (under the slides!). It is great to keep clean. The dogs don't like it as much. They cant get traction to jump onto the couch. Wearing just socks could be dangerous but those would be the same issues with hardboard laminate or vinyl laminate. Go For It.
