Wet Carpet

Have a fiver with two slide outs… when I bring the large slide in for travel, the two supporting arm brackets push and tip the large gasket down in two places. Over time the gasket doesn’t fit up against the bottom of the slide as tight as it should. Consequently when driving in the rain, the wheels throw water and soak the carpet in these two places. Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes or suggestions appreciated.

  • I had that happen to me as well. When I got done driving for the day the carpet was soaked and filthy from road sludge. I cut the carpet out that evening and it was probably a good thing that I did. The floor was also soaked. I soaked up as much water as I could with towels and put a fan on it overnight.

After the floor had dried out I put down a wood floor, and added a D shaped gasket with the wiper seal to the bottom of the slide out. All you need is the D shaped gasket if your slideout seals while opened. In my case it didnt even have a seal so I needed the wiper to seal it when open and the D to seal it when shut.
