Winter Project: Picnic Table Camp Box

Years ago I would go camping with my aunt and uncle, my uncle was a scout leader and they had made up a box that would fit in the back of their station wagon. They would put it on the picnic table, it would have the dishes, Coleman lantern, cups, draws with silverware and knives, napkins etc ... Boy I miss those days, wish I could have gotten that box from my cousins but I'm sure it long gone by now, this was 60 years ago and the memories are still very clear in my mind :)

Looks very nice! I always admire the skills of a good carpenter! I've done my share of cabinet building, home remodeling, and a zillion wood craft 'things', so I understand the thoughts and processes that had to go into making your box, and then ... to make it actually work in the end! Very nice job!

I really admire folks when they come up with creative ideas to solve a problem by something they've designed and built, rather than simply going out and buying something ready made. It's truly a craft that many don't possess any more. Well done!

Very nice project.

I can of course think of zillions of things to add, which if done with too much abandon would mean that one would need a forklift to put it on the table. Perhaps the first would be a hook or something to hang a trash bag from on the back.

Very nice. It is good to see a DIY project to fit your needs.
