As long as your RV actually weighs 16K or less and the pin weight is at or below the hitch specs you will be fine. Anything that is engineered for a specific spec has a huge fudge factor.
If you want a heavier duty hitch check out the B&W they are very simple in design and top quality USA Made.
I just came back from talking to a neighbor that arrived yesterday. The B&W hitch will not disconnect from the truck. It is the first hitch of that brand I have seen and it looks very tough but something broke inside. I will find out when he gets it off and repaired. I asked if he knew of some things that can help and he knew and had tried them. Nothing is perfect.

Please post what actually happened.
I will because we like to know stuff. It might happen tomorrow.

Life is good again. I walked over when the owner decided to mess around with the hitch. Hi wife found on the internet the story that when the handle is pulled to disconnect and the jaws are still around the pin the answer is to pull the truck ahead and the jaws will open.
I had him just put the truck in gear and hold the brake and the movement told me the hitch was unhooked and then we saw the jaws had open. the problem is why did this not work yesterday? He dragged the fifthwheel and it didn't release. Might just be an operator error on his part. Now I learned another thing about stuff.
Nice strong looking hitch.

I assumed that was the problem. I have had that happen also. Just remove the tension.
Yes they really are a very nice hitch.
We all have that problem at times and easy to fix but nothing worked for this guy for over 2 hours yesterday. First thing I asked him was because he backed up going up hill could this be his problem. He knew and was not hurt because I asked this simple question. He was happy but didn't understand why this time. Nice help out sometimes.

- allimaxExplorerWhen I was hitch hunting, I was going to go with the 16k with a GVW the same as yours, and everyone chimed in that I should go a bit heavier, so I went with the 20k (no 18k available in the hitch I opted for). I guess it's better to go a bit more than what you think you need. I'd get the 18k.
Also, what Water-bug says makes sense to me.
