2017 F250 Diesel

Hello all, is there someone out there towing a 2012 vintage Fifth wheel that is around 31/32' in length with a 2017 Ford F250 Diesel, question is did you have to make changes to the truck or trailer so the bed clearance was acceptable.
  • It would depend on the 5th wheel They're not all built the same. Mines only 28' and I tow with a 2018 Ram 2500. Mines a mid profile and it sits 1" high in the front. It's going to depend on what size frames under the 5th wheel as well as what size tires are under it along with how they built the front over hang.
  • Your 17 250 likely sits a little taller than my 13. I am towing slightly nose-high with FW on my profile. Each FW can be different, but if yours has 16" tires that will help. Mine are just 15". Some FWs have extra adjustment holes on the spring hangers also. The newer trucks are tall, and yes, many are towing nose-high. IMO, an inch or two nose-high, would not be a big issue.

  • My fifth wheel has 16" tires on it and they certainly have raised the truck bed height on the big 3 manufactures in recent years, it is an important factor to consider.
  • You will be ok as long as 250 is set up to haul the weight. They need the towing capacity as well as camper package. I had a 250 2011 that could not handle the weight. The rest should be handled by making adjustments either at 5th wheel hitch or king pin.
  • I seen a 2015 F250 SRW diesel pulling a 38 ft. 20K GVW 2015 DRV. Evidently had air bags and seemed to be doing OK. I never get surprised about anything these days :-0
  • After measuring the truck bed height (trailer disconnected) from where the rear wheel touches the ground to the top of the bed my old truck 2005 GMC 2500HD measures 54" while the 2017 F250 measure 59", quit a difference, has anyone had this happened when you purchased a new truck and had any issues.
  • Happens all the time since around 2010. That seems to about the time things got higher for some MFG's.

I tow my 2008 34' about 5" nose high. It tows beautiful but I plan on building a sub frame for it to level it out and move the axles back about 20". When I carry my motorcycle on the back it tows terrible.

Well I moved up 15 years in age and went from a 2500 to a 3500 DRW, I measured and the new truck was within 1" of the same height! :B
