F250 gas or diesel?

If you have nothing to post on the OP's question/s, do not post. Have you considered the frustration someone gets when they ask a question and get Off Topic responses or just BS responses, especially from several members. It is nothing less than a dog pile, disrespectful, rude and unacceptable. If you don't like the tone of the poster, don't post. We all have choices on RV.NET, including going to another website.

Incidentally, with a headwind, at least my gasser 6.2 won't hold 6th gear while carrying #3500 lbs.

It will drop down to 5th, and if you are going up a hill, it will drop down to 4th and if it's steeper, sometimes 3rd gear.

The Ford gas 6.2 has a horsepower and torque sweet spot around 3500-4k rpm. Yes it has low end grunt, but it will go to its sweet spot in tow/haul mode.

If you're coming from a diesel, and you don't like revving engines, you will probably not like it.

I happen to like revving gas engines. It's music to my ears.:)

I find several members insist on going off topic in almost every thread they post in. For the most part it is the same members. It is rude. I apologize to the OP for not having followed this thread from the start. I really do not want to delete posts, but I guess that is what I will have to do.

Hey man the guy is taking a bit of a beating here.
It's true, on here when you ask a specific question you often get a lot of opinions on things that you didn't ask and not always anything about what you did ask. It can be hard to get a relevant answer.
I know first hand!
This guy might be that great guy you have a beer with at the campground. You'll be embarrassed if the subject of RV.net comes up and it turns out its him! Especially if he's a just-retired cage fighter.

Also think about resale value. My old 2006 is still worth 2/3 of initial cost, at least. But I wouldn't sell it for that anyway

There isn't really that much difference between the 6.2 L engines in 2016 vs. the 2017. Slightly different cam.

The 2017 truck is still a brick moving through the air just like the 2016.

Basic physics are the same, regardless of the aluminum wrapping.

Well, my 2016 6.2 gas got 8.6 mpg on a trip to Ash Falls, Nebraska, just this past weekend.

That's combines, 500 miles out thru 20 mph headwinds and 500 miles back being pushed by the headwinds.

While fighting headwinds it was more like 7.5 mpg. With the wind at my back it was more like 10.3.

No wind, carrying the Lance 820 which fully loaded is like 3000 lbs, usually about 9.6 mpg.

Hope that helps. I got this F250 specifically with the truck camper package to carry a camper. Handles it just fine. I'm over GVWR, but well below tire ratings.

2017 will have probably 150 lbs more of payload for the F250. F350 is not necessary, in my opinion. Some states and/or cities will charge more to register a 1 ton truck.

My truck is registered for 12k lbs, but still counts as a 3/4 ton for registration purposes, which is the only thing the law cares about.

PLEASE! DOES ANYONE HAUL A CAMPER IN A 2017 F250 6.2L GAS TRUCK, SPECIFICALLY.

If you are going to do any driving in Mexico, then you do not want diesel. Mexican diesel will clog your fuel filter.
