30 amp adapter- newbie here

Be careful! Many electricians make the same mistake when it comes to RV's.
Read this (and maybe have the electrician look at it also before he does anything)

If your fiver is a 50A unit (ie 4 prongs on the plug) you could get an electrician to replace the dryer outlet with 50A range one, with appropriate wiring and breaker changes.
That way you would be better positioned to survive in AZ.
The dryer outlet as is does not have a neutral, which is essential to supply the double 110V/50A supply.

Not maybe but Make Sure the electrician looks at this and fully understands what you are asking him to do. They can and have made the same mistakes.

In your original post, it was a 30 amp cable. Now it is a 50 amp cable. Make sure of what you have befor plugging in anywhere or changing any plugs or making any adapters.

EDIT. Modern 4 prong appliance plugs have the necessary neutral and ground pins necessary for an RV plug-in. (The pin configuration may not be the same), but older 3 prong appliance plugs are missing the necessary neutral pin.

X2 My brother had an electrician install a 30 amp for his rv, "we do a lot of those" he was told. The company the electrician worked for had to replace a lot of equipment in his trailer.

Our electrician installed a 30 amp outlet for our rv. Luckily, he asked us a question about the outlet, so I emailed him the rv info,( in bob213 post). I stilled checked it myself before I used it. (It was installed correctly)
So check and double check.

Remember, the only foolish question is one thats never asked. Glad you asked before you made a costly mistake.

Assuming replacing the wiring isn't too hard, your really safer just having a 50A outlet supplied because that is a standard range receptacle and electricians are more familiar with them. Then you can use an adapter for 30A or if you have a 50A rig (I'm not clear which you have) you can plug directly into it and have much more power available.

MUCH easier to have a dedicated breaker on your panel for the RV. We have a 30A RV plug at our house, on its own breaker, installed by a commercial electrician and fellow RV'er, so he knew what he was doing. If you're in the East Valley, PM me and I'll send you his #.
