...The Companion is an awesome hitch. I use mine to tow our Mobile Suites that is well above 18K. If you compare it to other 20K hitches the B&W is clearly a heavier duty product.
JMHO
You knowingly exceed the weight rating of your 5th wheel hitch?
Didn't you chastize me for towing my 5th wheel with my SRW, even though I am within weight ratings?
I am exceeding my tow ratings on my 11 RAM Dually by around 10,000# also. Only difference is I have 3:42 gears VS 4:10 gears that would tow 2K more than I have per Chrysler.
Like I said look at the 20K Curt then the B&W 18K Companion and tell me what hitch is built to handle more weight. B&W is VERY conservative with their ratings. There is a big safety factor when things are engineered. I really don't think when I pass the hitch ratings by 500# it will magically break.
But towing a HEAVY LONG 5er with a single rear wheeled truck is not a good idea and if I "CHASTIZED" as you say I did then I stand by what I said.
All JMHO!
