I am within all ratings and specs for my truck. Believe it or not, it tows great. It handles well in challenging conditions and terrain.

But, it's OK for you to exceed the ratings for your equipment?

Didn't you chastize me for towing my 5th wheel with my SRW, even though I am within weight ratings?

I am exceeding my tow ratings on my 11 RAM Dually by around 10,000# also. Only difference is I have 3:42 gears VS 4:10 gears that would tow 2K more than I have per Chrysler.

Like I said look at the 20K Curt then the B&W 18K Companion and tell me what hitch is built to handle more weight. B&W is VERY conservative with their ratings. There is a big safety factor when things are engineered. I really don't think when I pass the hitch ratings by 500# it will magically break.

Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel Connection... 20k weight rating and you don't have to break your back to remove it from the bed.

The 20K Companion is for the Ford with factory underbed system.

The 22K Companion is for flatbeds.

The other Companions are 18K. The Patriot is 16K.

Unless he has a flatbed or a Ford, he has an 18K rated Companion.

Careful. There is 18k and a 20k companion. He may have the 20k.

If your looking at a Fifth wheel over 18K, your going to to need a bigger truck.

Nothing wrong with the B&W Companion. Though if you want a trailer larger than 18K, I'd look into a Curt GN with the 5er adapter plate and one of their 20 or 24K hitches, or any other brand hitch, since their adapter is basically standard bed rails.
