They provided me with two plastic strips that fill the void in the bed corrugation.
That's what I'm looking for. Any chance you can measure the thickness? Might just go down to my local plastic shop and see if they can cut me a couple pieces.
Can't see them they are under the hitch. Just lay a straight edge across the bed perpendicular to the ribs and measure the space.
Here's what the plastic strips look like. If you still need the measurments I can get them for you tomorrow.
The ones for the original Companion base are just hard plastic strips with adhesive on one side to stick to the bottom of the base. The new Companion shown in your pic has the strips bolted and can be adjusted side to side. - Rich1961Explorer

And then there's the customer service. A HUGE compliment to them from me. I had the dreaded pickup bed crushing from my Companion hitch, not B&Ws fault. GM decided to cheapen the steel thickness. I contacted them and they sent me two large pieces to attach to my Companion. No charge, no hassle and no questions asked. I appreciated it immensely. So nice to deal with a quality company these days.
I called them last week in regards to the same issue my dad is experiencing with his older companion and the lady on the phone tells me they offer no such thing. WTH???
I asked them about the same thing and was told the same. Not that I need it, I was just asking to see if it was a good idea while I was talking to them about getting new nylock nuts and u-bolts (free of charge, I might add). - N-TroubleExplorer

Since I am always accused of being a B&W fan boy I may as well comment!
I had a RBW with the two rails that ran long way in the bed I thought that was thew best hitch of them all!
I am to this day thankful to the friend I bought my 98 RAM from that talked me into the Gooseneck and Companion. I always did a pull test with the RBW but after a while of doing the same with the B&W the light came on! I finally figured if the kingpin and hitch plates ate touching the handle is closed and locked and a quick visual the 1" thick jaws are wrapped around the kingpin there is no reason to do a pull test just a "VISUAL TEST" !
They in my opinion are the highest quality hitch available the only other hitch I would consider would be a Hensley air bag hitch it has the same type of locking head.
My new RAM on order has the factory prep and I will shortly be ordering a RVK3600 that has 25K towing and 6250 pin capacities. I will be ordering from tweets.com along with another distinguished member of this Forum.
