That is the proper way but you still need to find out the voltage available from the RV wiring. Being at your house and on RV 50 amp extension cord your voltage reading should be 120-125 volts in your outlets inside the RV.
As noted below 110 volts 60 Hz electric motors will build a lot of heat.
We have that brand on our tool trailer and it works find after 18 years. We have two of another brand in the MH that are 1992 installs. Two years ago we had to replace the gaskets under them but they cool just fine. Maybe they cut the life in half of AC units when they die the life of RV frigs.
Our front unit did the same as yours within weeks after be bought the 15 year old MH. We could get it to blow and it was a dirt dauber had built a mud nest in the motor so I had to force the shaft to turn to crush the dried mud but all is well 7 years later.
