Good ideas and info has been already posted. I wonder how long the compressor actually runs before it kicks out. If it kicks on, that implies it is not locked up. If the compressor starts and runs normally before kicking off, that would indicate capacitors may be ok. If it runs long enough that a refrigerant line gets cold or freezes before compressor shuts off, that could indicate low refrigerant.
MPCarr provided good info and so did others. Hard to add anything to help. I agree the a close inspection of wiring, capacitors, and for mudd dauber nests can help solve the mystery. Fixed one last weekend for a camper doing such an inspection.
