..... and what are the top 2 or 3 things I can do to reduce indoor temps.
I've been hearing about using the aluminum bubble insulation stuff on windows I don't need to see out of. Any other suggestions?
EDIT: I'm also looking into tinting the windows. Anybody done this?...what brand, type, etc did you use?..
Nature of the beast. Arctic package or not. It's still a box with a flat roof, low ceilings, sitting in the hot sun!
Two hot summers in Florida and this is what I found is what helps to keep you cool inside.
Ya, I stayed in Florida in the summer in my RV. :R You have to get real smart real quick to stay cool.:B
1.Roof vents are plastic and do not create a seal. AC and heat escape right out those. Put vent pillows in all roof vent openings. Makes a BIG difference.
I have 3 roof vents and when I put the vent pillows in them all the temp inside got cooler right away. If you have white lids, replace them with black lids big diff also.
2. Watch how you park and try to have the side your awning is on facing the west. Drop awning down all the way. Gives an added factor to keeping the hot afternoon sun from blazing on and heating up that side of the RV.
3. I bought 'removable' window tint to see if that would make a diff and it sure did. tint has been on for 2 years now and looks like a professional job no peeling. And when I go to sell I can just take it off. I also added removable window tint to skylight in shower too.
4. Real hot days I put van windshield sun shades under the window shades on the side the sun is on. no drilling, no velcro just slip them under the day/night shades. When the sun goes down just take them out.
Just doing these few things made it much much cooler in the RV.
