$4,000?!?!?! what are you smoking? LOL.
adding a second bed is not that expensive. We have a 2014 XLR Hyperlite 27HFS with the happi jac bed and I emailed Forest River for a quote on adding the second bed. the total was about $642.
I think the $4k is for a complete 2 queen bed Happijac system. Who knows what its adds to the cost when factory installed. The Happijac system started being factory installed around 2006, at least in the THs we were looking at. Before that there was some sort of gas pressure spring lever system used for a one queen bed platform. The used 2009 WW we bought came with a Happijac upper queen/lower bench system. The couch folds into a awful halfway between double and queen sized bed. We built a second queen bed platform using 2"x2.5" angle iron, 2"x4"s, and 1/2" & 1/4" plywood for under $200. The track brackets for the bench were the same as the bed platform. The frame around the platform is 3/4"x7" birch, stained (not carpeted) to match the cabinets, but the strange "cherry" colored wood WW used for the cabinets is hard to match.
