- GoPackGoExplorerHere's an interesting article. It talks to the amount of money, on a per car basis, that is allocated for warranty costs by the largest car manufacturers.
If you don't want to read it all (and I didn't), then scroll down and look at the chart at the end (figure 7) and then read the very last paragraph.
I would think that vehicles with high quality would have low warranty cost.
This is from July, 2013.
http://www.warrantyweek.com/archive/ww20130711.html - OakmanExplorerThe reality of this recall is that the factory is 99 percent sure that only one (1) unit was produced without a furnace vent. To be safe the factory included the VINs of many units produced before and after this one unit to be safe.
- GoPackGoExplorerYes, whether you want to believe it or not, the reason you drive a much more reliable domestic is because of VW, Honda etc and the cars they brought over to the US in the 50s and 60s.
No excuse for what Toyota did.
Tim - scbwrExplorer IIYeah, Toyota screwed up big time in recent years but the invasion of better built imports definitely was a factor in American auto companies building better cars. The imports started creating more competition in the market which was a big gain for consumers.

Just which foreign manufacturer do you recommend?..:h
Maybe a major "foreign car maker" - like Toyota........
The following has "been said before" - and easily researched on Google. Lots of horror stories - and dealers were of no help, as they said there were no recalls.
Toyota paid a $1.2 BILLION settlement to the Justice dept due to the 31 accidents and 12 deaths - including a CA CHP officer and his family - caused by the faulty accelerator pedal (which would stick open).
Toyota knew of the problem, but tried to blame it on floor mats.
Still facing approx 300 lawsuits.
Maybe there's some other foreign car manufacturer, huh.
Rotsa ruck!..:W

Up to 200 trailers....why isn't this making the news headlines. The potential for multiple deaths is frightening, especially for any owners that are new to rvs with furnaces. At the same time, US consumers have to learn that insisting on such low prices for larger RVs is unrealistic if you want any quality at all. As long as the******sells, the manufacturers will be glad to take your $$$.
Wow....didn't know c _ _ p was a no no!
When you =know= that you can easily get 25-35% off the "MSRP", that tells you the real price on these things.

you might wake up dead too....how the hell did that get done....so much for QC
That was my first thought, too.
Lyle - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIThe way rv furnace operate probably wasn't a real health issue.......with high exhaust pressure furnaces probably failed to ignite
Most likely came to Forest River's attention due to owner complaints to dealers...."Hey my furnace won't lite, doesn't run" - FlatBrokeExplorer IIYears ago when we were truck campers it was brought up about water heater and furnace vents being right under a window. Never would fly in a conventional home.
- downtheroadExplorerThat is way too outrageous for me to believe...I know I read it, but I just can't believe it...
