The Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch, though it hooks to the ball in the bed of the truck, to secure it, is actually a 5th wheel hitch and is considered that by quite a few of the hitch installing experts....you don't need a safety chain for it, (unless it's a state thing), but you have 4 legs supporting the ball that you hook up to and it's 18-20" off the deck of the truck, not in the bed of the truck.
Quite a few of the guys on the cummins forum who have the new Rams with the GN/5er prep package have gone with the Reese Elite drop in ball, and the Andersen Ultimate 5th. wheel hitch to tow their 5er's with....Seems to be working well for quite a few of them on that forum..
