- CamorhinoExplorerI had a 5th Airborne on a WW CL 4005 TH that was extremely tongue heavy, and I pulled it with a Class 8 truck. Tore the pin box up without it, and after installing the 5th Airborne, noticed alot less chucking, and no problems since.
- Sprinks542ExplorerI have the Mor/ryde. just installed it at the end of last year. Pulled with it twice since then. Huge difference. I'm sure there's bigger and better out there but I'm happy with mine. My season is just getting started.
- N-TroubleExplorerSearch the 5er forum as this topic has come up several times (Mor/ryde vs air pin box). From those who have had both the consensus seems to be they prefer the air pin boxes but they come at a cost and require a bit of maintenance vs the much simpler and cheaper Mor/ryde. I would say if you do a lot of long distance towing go for the air pin box otherwise the Mor/ryde would be my choice due to the simplicity and price. The Mor/ryde is designed to eleminate back/forth chucking while the air pin boxes smooth out up/down movement and also seem to reduce chucking.

Now what if you already have air bags on the rear of the truck? Would the air ride on the pin box be redundant? - 64thunderboltExplorer IINO
- RCMAN46ExplorerOften chucking is caused by low pin weight. If your pin weight is less than 20% I would try towing at 25% before spending money on a new pin box.

No, air bags on the truck are for an entirely different purpose. There are air hitches that serve a similar purpose as an air pinbox. - stsmarkExplorerI always thought that airbags are kind of a twofer, leveling and cushioning. The pinbox does not know where the cushioning is coming from.

Yes it does, even with bags the truck will still transfer all of it's movement into the hitch and vice versa. The air pin box allows it to almost float on the truck and absorb movement from the truck and trailer.
