Moving up from a TT to FW I was naïve on hitches. Having a 1/2 ton 6' box the logical choice seemed to be a Superglide. I didn't consider the pin box length or rounded front cap.
After having the setup installed and connected it didn't take me long to realize a 200lb slider wasn't necessary.
Don't get me wrong, I love the SG but I could have gotten by with a cheaper, smaller, lighter hitch. Now I have this beast in my box.
I've considered buying a used non-slider that matches my rails to see how it rides. Or even a shorter pin box to bring the FW front closer to the truck.
On Edit: I pulled up a photo to illustrate how much cap clearance I have with my current hitch. Now I see that I need to assure I will have clearance from truck tail to basement before I do anything stupid.
