I would also look to see if additional springs can be added. Or possibly stronger springs. I don't have a TH, but my utility trailer has a very heavy loading ramp. Added strong springs to it and now it is easy even for my 74 yr old body to raise and lower it. The springs are so strong that sometimes the ramp will stop a couple inches before reaching the ground and I step on it to push it down to the ground. And raising it back up takes little effort. A good trailer shop could advise you on your options.
