I guess to better answer your question, you should remove the trim-work that is in the vent location now. Should jut be four screws. Take that down, and you will see if you have power, stat wires, and if the ducts are there to tie into.

Will do the trim removal thing. If your 2012 can tie into the duct system, I have to believe my 2013 is set up the same way. Like you I'm waiting for a break in the weather.
For your thermo installation & all else fails & you have a little electrical knowledge you may be able to go down to the breaker wiring & install a relay to control 120 volt line wires going to the AC.
