Best internet

I am looking at purchasing a fifth wheel and still doing my research. I will be using this as my primary residence as well as my weekend get away. I use the internet for everything from work emails to streaming tv the little that I do watch.

I will be living in north florida. Most of my travels will take me around the south east. Football games, NASCAR races, camping/fishing trips, music events and what ever else i can find to pass the weekend.

What do all of you recommend as the internet of choice for this type of life style. Is some sort of dish the best or is a cell provider with a wifi token? I will be using a fair amount of bandwidth and looking for the best price to bandwidth usage ratio.

Thanks
Zip

  • Forget about satellite for internet - way too slow to be productive. We have a Verizon mifi with a 30gb a month plan (shared with our phones, which use none) that costs $130 a month. I don't know if they offer that plan now. Even at that, streaming video doesn't work for us - it takes up too much bandwidth. We've found a very few RV parks where the park WiFi was usable, and even one or two where it was fantastic. And in those parks, figure on paying at least $45 a month for the service. Unless you're addicted to non-broadcast TV which has to be streamed or satellite-delivered, get a decent off-air antenna and pick up the local channels in your area for free. Or stay in an RV park that offers cable TV.

  • Mobile internet is very expensive compared to home wired systems. No body is cheap or even inexpensive. Verizon for example just started offering 10GB for 80 dollars a month. And prices go up from there. Most of us have learned to conserve. Online only a little each day, bill paying and emlailing family and friends. Streaming video? Not going to happen. Even parks with wifi done allow it.
  • No dish will be good for internet. Wi-Fi is way too expensive to use for streaming. There are not many unlimited plans anymore. We use Verizon Mi-Fi hotspot for internet.
We use DirecTV satellite for TV and an antenna for over air local channels. The other provider is DISH.
