Absolutely repair the stand off if possible. I had the same issue and chose to remove the ladder thinking I'd use my extend-a-step ladder when needed. Big mistake!!! The extend-a-step although very functional is a PITA to have to get out for use so I ended up replacing my ladder with a 'universal' fit. It's OK now however the area's where the original standoff's where will always be a different color white.
