Brake issue - Poor braking Thor 2005 Victory Lane 36'
2005 Thor Dutchman Victory Lane Toy Hauler 35SRV twin axle
Thanks in advance. I've owned this 5er since 2008. The first few years I did a little towing with it, in the past few years I've elected to leave it to my campsite (a peaceful 8 acre parcel with full services, with only family camping) manager (brother) to pull it out in the late fall, and he is kind enough to put it back in place in the spring.
So, when I say that the brakes seem to be lacking, it's not just my word, and not just my vehicle (or brake controller). My brother says it's the most challenging to remove and get into storage, speaking of braking.
I tow with a '99 GMC K3500, the usual vehicle my brother uses is a 2011 Chevy 2500. We both recently talked about how the brakes on the toy hauler seem inadequate, even with the controller turned up (in either vehicle). (BTW, while I have limited experience towing, my brother is very experienced)
Why ask this question now???
This fall, my wife and I plan to bring the camper home to Maryland (from it's current location of the Finger Lakes in NY). I have some interior repairs to do, and we have some interest in remodeling some). We go up regularly to weekend camp with family, and spend our vacation there as well. So, in the summer period, if there is work to be done to improve these brakes, I could perform any recommended troubleshooting and or repairs/replacements that the forum could offer up to me.
If this is covered in some other area, I do apologize for re-posting, I have done searches, but didn't seem to find the jewel that I was looking for.
Hey thanks for reading, and if you have any input, thanks for that too.
