I have always felt that 38"s from cab would be my absolute minimum, although never tried it. I do know just a couple more inches back, makes a huge difference.

Jerry, I just downloaded the installation manual for the 3300. It shows two settings, one inch behind the axle and 3" behind the axle. If my axle is at 41" this will give me up to 44" from the cab. Up to six inches more than I have now. I will call them on Monday to confirm.

I had a manual sliding base for my hitch but never used it. I found it difficult to release at times. I got more chucking with it also. Five years I never had an issue until the other day. We're on our last rip of this year so I have lots of time to research hitch options.
B&W,Demco and Pullrite are on my short list.

I have the Pullrite 18K and no puck system I have about 7" clearance but there is no adjustment to the hitch you can only adjust your pin box

I read all these posts that state you don't need a slider with the "new design" on the front end of the rigs! Then every now and then we get a post like yours where the TV and rig get caught kissing! I spent a little extra and got the Pullrite auto slide, IMHO a manuel slider is a receipt for disaster, since most of the time it is not used, the one time you need to use it you will end up with damage! To me 10 years of backing, and only one time that requires a slider is well worth the expense!

Jerry, I took a measurement and it is 38" from the cab. Maybe I could look at other options that would set the hitch back 3".

I am curious as to how far back your pin is from the cab? I know circumstances can change quickly, such as a down hill. Were you making a forward U-turn? I have towed many years with my pin 40.5 inches behind cab, and last several years at 40 inches back.

What hitch are you using now? Some standard hitches have good adjustment ahead/back. The center of your 2013 Ford axle should be at 41 inches.

I was doing a U turn in a parking lot. I have a Husky fixed hitch. I'm not sure the distance from the cab but I will measure. My hitch doesn't have any front to rear adjustment.

It looks like the Pullrite will sit at 18.5" high with no adjustment. If I install it on my picture frame adapter it will be approximately 21" high. I will contact Pullrite on Monday to see if my information is correct.
It looks like the Demco sits much lower and is adjustable.
