I bought a 2011 Crusader 290rlt and am now shopping for a used pull vehicle. Many of the trucks on the market only have a standard bed, and I was told that some 5th wheel models are ok with a standard bed and fixed hitch while others can impact the back window in a tight turn unless you use a sliding hitch. Does anyone have any experience with the 290RLT and a standard bed pull vehicle?
There is a difference from one make to the next, on the tow vehicle. You go by the distance from axle center, to the back of cab. The GMs have the longest distance, followed by Ford, and Ram is the shortest.
Many, including myself have been towing a FW with a fixed hitch for many years, with no problem. It depends on the FW front, distance from pin to cab, and the driver of the tow vehicle.
Awareness is the key, same as if you back a TT too short and hit.
