Can a fixed 5th wheel hitch be used on a standard bed truck?

IMO one should not get themselves into such a predicament that they are at a 90* angle in the 1st place. If you are that close, that's what "D" is for on the transmission. Pull forward to straighten yourself out or to re do your procedure. Current and last trucks is/was a shortbed and tho I had a slider in old truck, it got used maybe 3x at most. Sold it and went w/ reg hitch which now sits in new one.
