We have a 2016 XLR 24hfs. We have managed to camp at places that have all had water hook-ups except one. So I thought ok, no big deal. We can fill the water tank... Not so simple, or I am a moron, one of the two and Im leaning toward the latter. The hose connection has a valve on it. On way says city water, turn the valve other way and it says tank fill... I put it on tank fill, let the water run for a bit then turn the water pump on. Nothing. There is a lighted switch in the box that only lights up once your go in the camper and turn the water pump to on. after that I have no clue what to do. Any tips here fellas?

Make sure you're not inadvertently connected to any kind of black tank flush port. Many times these are located close to the potable water ports. Easy to confuse the two.

It's 11:59 same day...... hope I'm in time.A chance you will fill tank to over fill........BE CAREFUL!Look in your trailer manual and look for illustrations.I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR TRAILER EXCEPT THINGS CAN BE OVERFILLED AND THAT"S A MESS. Any tips here fellas?When you turn on the water pump open a faucet. You need to let air out so water can get in to prime the pump.

Run water into tank via fill, then turn the valve back.

The tank flush port is right beside the port I'm using. So I'm good on not mixing the two up.. Ive have searched and searched online and cant find any useful manuals. I have had the faucet open and water running to no avail.. Unless maybe I didn't have it open long enough. I would assume I could hear something running, (air, water pump) something but cant

Cant for the life of me figure out how to fill water tank?

So...is it working by now? Hopefully!!

Just wanted to say, you don't need to completely FILL the fresh water tank to be able to use water from it. You do need some water in it though...obviously. So you turn the valve to Fill until you've got enough in it, then turn off the flow into the tank, disconnect the hose and turn the valvue back to Use Tank or City Water. THEN go turn on power to the water pump.

Buy a garden hose flow meter in the garden section at HD. Then you will at least have an idea of how many gallons you put in the trailer.

Ditto, i did reinforce tank mounts when I brought it home. Not impressed with factory job. I never knew people went by sensor, Ive always filled till it starts to dribble, approx 5 diffrent rigs now.

rupture tank :H

Tank doesn't get pressurized.....properly vented
Tank is designed for gallons/weight
Tank is properly supported

Oh wait.....some RV MFGs cut corners and scrimp on quality.....:S

I would not recommend filling until water comes out overflow. This method could rupture the tank.
