Carlisle Radial HD trailer tires

Just installed four of these on our 10,000 gvwr fifth wheel. I chose these over the Maxxis 8008 tires we had on our trailer previously. Mainly because of the number of blow outs that have been reported. Any way several members on here have had good reviews on the Carlisle tires, we shall see.

I bought the tires on Ebay for a great price. The thing I found interesting is this. I took them to my local Discount Tire store to have them mounted and balaced. They sold me road hazard for the new tires!!! Even though I didn't purchase the tires from them. I felt this is a great deal so I thought I would pass this info on to the forum.

Tires I bought were ST225/75R 15s. E rated 10 ply.

ON Edit: Tires dated 12 week of 2017. 1217

I think John made a good choice, choosing the newer designed Carlisle HD, instead of the older design. There are several manufacturers with the newer designed, nylon capped, cooler running, higher speed rated ST tires now available. While many folks have had good luck with Maxxis STs, they may need to update their design to be competitive in the future.

    Thanks Jerry,

While I had good luck with my Maxxis ST's I just thought with more and more post of failed Maxxis tires I would give the Carlisle's a shot. My decision, my money, my choice, thankyou very much.

The point of the post anyway was how Discount Tire sold me the road hazard for the tires even though I didn't purchase the tires from them. I was surprised they would do this and just wanted to share that info with the forum.

A thoughtful, long term study? Or random reports? Including rumor, innuendo, and gossip?

Troublemaker.:) You know the "reports" are based on anecdotal evidence. Regardless, I've been following tire posts on this and other forums for years, and anecdotally, Maxxis are starting to show a downward slide. Also showing piss-poor quality, many Chinese tires are **** and subject to tread separation. There are only a handful of ST tires from which to choose, and no published "reports" to assist us, so I relied on that pesky anecdotal evidence for my recent tire purchase.

  • If they are indeed HD's, they are very new.

I've been impressed with my experience with their RH series for years and the HD's appear to be an improvement over those. I have bought only one HD as a loose spare for my brand new camper with Westlakes.

  • Have you checked the manufactured dates on the tires' sidewalls? Maybe they are new, but I was just wondering.

I was shopping for a E-range tire for my F350 pickup last spring. A tire dealer said that he had a Continental tire stamped 2012 that I could have for $100. I took it! I figure to get three seasons out of it, which will be a good deal. (I have used either Continental or Michelin from the beginning and have not noticed much difference.)
