Choosing the right Hitch or pin box

Ok, here goes. We are getting ready to purchase a Raptor 384pk. Its like 14,200 dry. My truck is a 2012 F350 DRW, 6.7 diesel. Lazy days says I have no need for air pin box or hitch. I then spent hours reading about how nice they are & the different brands. I think I am more confused now than when I started. I am curious to know what you guys use, with a similar truck and trailer weight. I have no hitch now, and only the pin box that is standard on the Raptor. No airbags in the truck either. I only want to buy this stuff once, as I went through 3 hitches for the tt before finding this site. What do I need?

I have the B&W Turnover Ball with the Companion 5th Wheel. I believe that B&W makes a 5th that is compatible with Fords hitch prep package.

Ours came with the Trailair Pinbox and the EQUA-FLEX from the factory. It makes a big difference from the stuff I've pulled without it.

I've also installed the Firestone Ride Rite airbags, and a PacBrake exhaust brake.
  • I have the holes & plug in the ebed of truck for the hitch, but a little more research talks about Ford only adapters, or rails. I will def call trailersaver & see what they say. Thanks a million for the replies!!!! I can't wait to upgrade from the TT to this thing.

Here's a silly question...the rails or under bed adapter...I don't have that. Does it come with the hitch, or is it all purchased separately? Also what about the pin box on trailer, does that need to be air as well, or is it normal to do one or the other?

Here is the info on the Ford under bed adapter. Looks like you have to have the "Ford fifth wheel hitch" option already installed on your truck.
Give Trailersaver a call to confirm what would be best for you application.

No need to change the pin box on your trailer if you go with an air ride hitch.

  • I have a Trailersaver TS3 air ride hitch and love it. Well worth the price IMO. Makes towing much more comfortable.
Since you have a newer Ford, you can get an under bed adapter instead of the standard rails.
I also have Firestone Ride Rite air bags to keep the truck level while hitched.
